Current Outages or Closures:
Electric service to some City of Newton customers will be interrupted from 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, until 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30.
As a public power provider, Newton is proud to provide electricity with fewer outages and faster restoration times than investor-owned power providers. Occasionally, the city needs to make important infrastructure improvements that require a scheduled interruption in service.
Newton will be making improvements at its electric delivery station on N.C. Highway 10 near the Heritage Trail Greenway trailhead. These improvements will make it possible for Newton to provide better service in the future and to restore service more quickly when interruptions occur.
A map indicating the area that will be affected is available here.
Newton is committed to being the most reliable public power provider possible. The city apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this interruption creates.
