Adult Tennis Lessons

NEWTON, NC (April 2, 2018)—The Newton Parks and Recreation Department will soon offer two sessions of adult tennis lessons at the Westside/Jaycee Park tennis courts located at 1020 Southwest Blvd., Newton.

Beginner adult tennis lessons will be held from 6-7:15 p.m. April 9, 16, 23 and 30. Space is available for eight students per class on a first come, first served basis. The cost is $30 per person. Beginner lessons involve basic instruction on ground strikes, volleys and serving.

Intermediate adult tennis lessons will be held from 6-7:15 p.m. April 10, 17, 24 and May 1.  Space is available for eight students per class on a first come, first served basis. The cost is $30 per person. Intermediate lessons will instruct students on singles and doubles play, court position and strikes.

Lessons are available for participants 18 years old or older.

Doug Eller, a tennis teaching professional with more than 40 years of experience will lead the lessons. Eller played collegiate tennis at Pembroke University and is currently a state ranked player.
